FAQs

What is the purpose of the Velocity Bump Knee Positioner?

Maintaining a stable leg position that can be altered and shifted easily during surgery, and with minimal risk, is of paramount importance to the speed, ease, and success of a procedure. The Velocity Bump Knee Positioner is engineered to “hold” the patient’s leg in a manner that enables the surgical team to lock the leg in place while also intraoperatively moving the leg for maximal flexibility.

How is the Velocity Bump Knee Positioner different than other leg holders?

In addition to its robustness and full-featured functionality, the Velocity Bump’s under-the-drape design resides outside the sterile field and thereby obviates the need for sterile processing. This makes it an ideal solution for an ambulatory surgical center (ASC) and for busy surgical practices where constant disassembly and sterilization are burdensome and difficult. It can be attached to the operating table in the morning and used all day for all knee procedures.

Is the Velocity Bump Knee Positioner only for total knee replacement?

Our system works for virtually any knee procedure where the surgeon requires the leg to be manipulated. This includes knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction and other sports-related surgeries, trauma procedures, patella-femoral replacement (PFJ), uni-compartmental knee replacement (UKA), and soft tissue procedures involving the leg and knee.

What about robotic knee replacement surgery?

Yes, the Velocity Bump Knee Positioner provides a solid base for the leg and has been used frequently in conjunction with surgical robots.
